Even though I work from home in Kansas City now, I still get to travel pretty often for work. New York was calling my name last week for one of my client’s events, a showroom opening for alice + olivia in the Meatpacking District.
After a week of searching for the right dress to wear to the opening, I finally found a cobalt blue shirt-dress by Amanda Uprichard from Saks Off Fifth. Let’s just say I’m not accustomed to suburban shopping quite yet. It was the first sign of fashion fatigue since my move in May. Check out this post from Your Style Scout which shows the dress in pink, too.
This summer, I’ve been working with one of my favorite blogs, Refinery29, for a project at work. Last week, I received the most adorable thank you gift.
This beach bag – a navy and cream stripe – is HUGE and will fit just about every accessory I need for the pool.
They also sent this lightweight beach blanket by Steven Alan.
Now, I just need to find the perfect day to show off my new poolside accessories. Which shouldn’t be hard, considering it’s been over 95 degrees in Kansas City since I moved here. No joke, I think it’s rained once. Definitely a change from Chicago weather for me. The second week I was here, I had to go out and buy shorts because I never wore them last year!
It’s that time of year again when herds of people flock to Nordstrom for their semi-annual anniversary sale (including myself). This year, my mom and I went to the Beauty Bash ‘pre-party’ together before the first day of the sale. Gift bags, you say? I’m there! Even if it is an early morning event. We arrived a little bit early and I was impressed to see a line.
After a few minutes, the music started pumping (let me remind you, this is at 7:45 a.m.) and the velvet ropes were pulled back. We had a great time getting our makeup down at the MAC and Laura Mercier counters. We also did a demo of the Clarisonic (which is definitely on my ‘to buy’ lust list).
We returned later that weekend to actually shop and I found these great Nike shoes on sale as one of their featured items of the day.
Nordstrom is also hosting a Pin it To Win It Sweepstakes through August 5 to fuel the frenzy. Being the Pinterest-obsessed person that I am, of course I started my own board to submit. And who doesn’t want a $1,000 Nordstrom gift card? To enter, all you have to do is pin three or more Nordstrom items to a new or existing Pinterest board. Once it’s complete, submit your board at this Nordstrom contest hub: http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/pinterest. Happy pinning!
The #photoaday trend from Fat Mum Slim has appeared in my Instagram feed for the past few months and I’ve finally decided to jump in. Even though it’s the end of July, there’s no better time than the present, right?
Who’s getting excited for NYFW this September?! I’m ready for the bombardment of stunning front row photography, live tweeting and influencer overload. Here’s a little video to wet your appetite:
